This is Jānis. His English name would be John or Johnny just like Depp. be.your.own.hero and HUMAN philosophy starts from him.
Let's get back to
2006
It is the second year of Johnnies studies in university and he realises that this system of getting grades and being evaluated by someone and the system, if you are good enough to do something is just not right for him. So he decided to quit studies at university and go on his own. Despite pressure from society - friends and family he wanted to take his life in his own hands and learn things from doing it. He started to search for things he like or could do. Trough the first jobs he learned things he didn't like. Some could say it was learning the hard way. But who said it will be easy? And only by just doing things, getting involved in projects, taking risks and trying to use ideas that comes in mind and using inner potential he was able to evolve and get on the track of self employed person from doing things he loved.

2014
Based on his life story and path Johnny has this idea of showing local Latvians the greater good of searching for inner potential of human trough these inspirational and motivational video stories about people who have found their inner power and potential. First of all it is the power to look inside you and find what is in there. What do you like or love. What would you like to do? What is or are your hobbies that you so much enjoy doing? And could there be any situation where you could do what you love and interact with material world getting some earnings from it?
So basically it is the ideology of being your own hero, understanding yourself, trusting yourself and trying to find what ever suits you on this planet.
So together with a friend and very talented videographer Jānis Dunkurs (Colortime) they started this project be.your.own.hero with looking for some people who had found already their path and passion in some way of expressing themselves trough making things or doing things.
THE END
of enthusiasm came pretty fast. The project was very fun and enjoyable in the preparing and filming but when it came to editing two ours of material which is needed to compress to ~3 minutes - now it is not that much fun. And since all the editing was just on one person who also needed to think of a real income... this is the part where it paused.
2022 REBIRTH
Now with a more wider view and perspective and evolvement of technologies and how we use them the idea of motivating and encouraging people to look inside and unleash inner potential of one has become a more topical, connecting stories from all around the world.
